Is it the end for 'S.W.A.T.'? Actor David Lim gives fans hope

Is "S.W.A.T." really over?

Last month, it was revealed that CBS canceled the action drama after eight seasons. However, this has happened before.

In 2023, the network canceled the show after six seasons but changed course shortly after the announcement was made. Then CBS said Season 7 would be its last, which of course, didn't happen.

Following yet another cancellation, actor David Lim, who plays Officer Victor Tan, says that may not be the case.

"It might not be just over for 'S.W.A.T.' just yet," he revealed to Melvin Robert on the KTLA 5 Morning News. "We believe in the show. We believe in what we've built. We're passionate. We want to continue. We're actively trying to find a new home for 'S.W.A.T.', and there's been an outpouring of love and support from our fans."

He explained that fans have launched a petition, which has received over 66,000 signatures and counting.

"Clearly, people are not ready to say goodbye just yet, and neither are we," he said. "So we're still hanging on to a little hope."

The "Quantico" actor went on to say that he and his castmates are really "feeling that love" from fans and supporters of the show.

"It's always been a family on 'S.W.A.T.' I think that's one of the things that makes 'S.W.A.T.' so special, is the camaraderie, the family, the team and the fact that everyone has shown up, you know, we feel like the whole world's got our backs right now, and we're just feeling every bit of that love," he continued.

The two-hour series finale is set to take place on May 16. It will air from 9 to 11 p.m.

"We have so much fun, you know, we try to keep it as professional as possible, but we have so much fun making this show, and we hope to continue," he concluded.

"S.W.A.T." currently airs on Fridays on CBS at 10 p.m. You can also stream it on Paramount+.
