YouTube TV, the live TV streaming service giant, is raising its prices for current subscribers in the new year. Again.

The service announced the price hike on Thursday in the form of emails sent out to subscribers, followed by social media statements.

The new price was set at $82.99 per month for the base plan, up from the previous price of $72.99. New subscribers will see that new price as early as Thursday, while the new rate will hit the wallets of current subscribers on Jan. 13.

YouTube TV cited the "rising cost of content" for the price raise.

"We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we realize this impacts our members," a statement reads. "With many exciting shows and live events coming up in 2025, we remain committed to bringing you the best of TV, all in one place."

YouTube TV, owned by Google’s parent company, Alphabet, launched in 2017 for $35 per month as an alternative to traditional cable services. It jumped to $50 after adding Discovery networks in 2019, according to Yahoo Finance.

The service announced that it crossed 8 million subscribers earlier this year.

KTLA 5 was added to the service for Los Angeles-area subscribers in 2023.
