The youngest child of the famous Jackson family has broken her silence on the recent passing of her older brother.
On Tuesday, Janet Jackson posted a childhood photo with her and brother Tito on her Instagram stories on what would've been his 71st birthday.
"May you rest in eternal peace," she wrote alongside three prayer hand emojis. "I miss you much."
Tito died in September while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma on Sunday, longtime Jackson family friend and manager Steve Manning told Entertainment Tonight.
Manning told the outlet he believes Jackson suffered a heart attack, but a cause of death has not been officially released.
The Jackson 5 singer's three sons Taj, Taryll and TJ confirmed their father's passing in a statement on Instagram but did not announce the cause of death.
His sons, who formed the R&B/pop group 3T, also posted a statement on Tuesday honoring the day their father was born.
"Today, on what would have been Tito’s 71st birthday, we celebrate his incredible life and legacy, but most of all his beautiful spirit. His presence will always be deeply missed, but his music, kindness, and love will forever live on in our hearts. Tito brought so much joy to the world, both as a member of The Jackson 5 and The Jacksons, and as an amazing father, brother, son, uncle and friend who touched the lives of many," their caption on Instagram read.
"As we honor him and commemorate his first heavenly birthday, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has shown support and love during this challenging time. Your words of comfort and the respect for our family’s privacy has meant the world to us."
The statement continued saying that the guitarist's "legacy will continue to inspire, and we are forever grateful to have shared in his remarkable journey. Today, let’s remember Tito 'Poppa T' Jackson. Not just today, but every day, there will still be ‘Tito Time.'"
