Netflix, you're Chump of the Week.
After building buzz around the arrival of cult comedy series "Detroiters," Netflix did not add it to the platform on Oct. 15 as previously announced, and the streamer has quietly deleted the promotional materials it put out on social media.
"Detroiters," starring Tim Robinson of Netflix's hugely popular "I Think You Should Leave" and Sam Richardson of "Veep" and "The Afterparty," ran for two seasons on Comedy Central and featured multiple writers and performers who now work on "ITYSL."
A love letter to the Motor City, "Detroiters" tells the story of a small advertising agency in — where else — Detroit, the real-life home of Robinson and Richardson and the filming location for the series.
Pop culture site Uproxx updated its story about the "Detroiters" Netflix premiere to confirm that it will no longer appear on the streamer Tuesday.
"No reason was given by the streaming service," the report added.
On X, formerly Twitter, star Shawntay Dalon, whose character Chrissy is wife to Robinson's Tim Cramblin and sister to Richardson's Sam Duvet, said she had hoped "it's a glitch," though she later implied that's not the case.
"I’m more hurt for the fans. Y’all were truly excited for this. I’m sorry," she wrote.
After Netflix's betrayal on levels that no one's ever seen, "Detroiters" remains streaming only on Paramount+.
Netflix did not immediately return a request for comment.
