Pop star Becky G returned to her roots on Tuesday.

The singer, known for hits like "Shower," "Mamiii" and the Oscar-nominated "The Fire Inside," went back to her old stomping grounds of Oak Street Elementary School in Inglewood to open a greenspace for students.

The 2,100-square-foot greenspace, created in partnership with coconut water company Vita Coco, "will include interactive and educational amenities to further spark engagement and joy within the school’s community," said a press release announcing Tuesday's ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"Features such as garden plots, compost bins, a farm stand and fruit trees will provide students with the opportunity to develop a green thumb and further explore plant life cycles and the role that fresh fruits and vegetables play in a healthy lifestyle," the release added. "Other greenspace attractions include reading nooks, a classroom gathering space and an outdoor play space for students, their families and the community."

"I was thrilled to connect with the Inglewood Unified School District to introduce the idea of bringing my Oak Street their very first greenspace," Becky G said at Tuesday's press conference.
