The victim of the deadly hit-and-run crash Thursday night in Los Angeles has been identified as stand-up comedian Perry Kurtz, the L.A. County Department of Medical Examiner has confirmed.
The collision was reported on the 19500 block of Ventura Boulevard in L.A.'s Tarzana neighborhood at about 11:20 p.m. Thursday. Police said Kurtz was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a vehicle.
The driver, later identified as 18-year-old Nathon Jaimes of Reseda, was arrested at his home on suspicion of felony hit-and-run causing death, police said.
Kurtz, 73, performed at a restaurant near the area of the crash each Thursday, according to witnesses. His career spanned decades and he was known for his appearances on "America's Got Talent" and "The Late Late Show with James Corden."
