This is a story about Britney Spears.
Universal Pictures has the rights to the popstar's memoir "The Woman in Me," after a "highly competitive auction." The studio beat out Sony, Warner Bros., Fox and Netflix.
According to some reports, Universal even beat out some A-List actor-producers including Brad Pitt and Reese Witherspoon who were hoping to produce the screen adaptation.
"Wicked" director Jon M. Chu and producer Marc Platt have been tapped to be a part of the project, according to Variety.
Spears posted to X, formerly Twitter, and teased a "secret project" to fans.
"Excited to share with my fans that I've been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt," she wrote. "He's always made my favorite movies... stay tuned."
The best-selling memoir was released in October of 2023 and followed her life from her upbringing in Kentwood, Louisiana to her marriage to now ex-husband Sam Asghari. It sold 1.1 million copies in the U.S. in just the first week alone.
It contained major bombshells not previously known to the public like her abortion with ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, her 13-year conservatorship and other private moments.
There's no word as to when the biopic will be released.
